HISTORY
of the UNIVERSITY
The University's history goes back to 1954
when the Frunze Soviet Commerce Technical School opened its
doors to its first entrants.
Based on a Resolution of the Ministers' Council
of the Kyrgyz SSR (Soviet Socialist Republic) issued on October
28th 1953, the Soviet Commerce Technical School was created
and in 1957, the first specialists graduated. In 1955, the
technological department for training technicians/production
engineers and specialists for public food organisations opened

of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic issued on December
29th 1997, gave it the status of the Bishkek Higher Commercial
College (BHCC).
In December 1999, the College became an institute
and was named the Bishkek State Institute of Economics and
Business (BSIEC) and on December 9th 2003, it was granted
the status of a University in accordance with Resolution #762
of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and is now known
in the republic as the Bishkek State University of Economics
