ACCOUNTANCY-ECONOMICS FACULTY

The faculty trains specialists with higher education in such directions, as accountancy, analysis and auditing, and applied information science in economics.

The faculty consists of four departments: Accountancy, Economical Analysis and Auditing, Applied Information Science in Economics and Social, Humanities and Legal disciplines.

The Accountancy and Economical Analysis and Audit departments are responsible for coordinating the methodological work in teaching accountancy and audit in republican HEI. The committee formed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic identified these departments as basic ones for retraining lecturers in appropriate specialties in republican HEI and improving their qualifications. The Institute of Professionally Qualified Accountants (IPQA) was created based of these departments and it includes teachers of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic, leading specialists in accountancy, reporting, taxes, and taxation as well as some of the University's older students.

Experts in economics information technologies are most in demand, not only in our republic but also in CIS and other foreign countries. The Applied Information Science department trains these specialists in the University. The department won a grant from the Soros-Kyrgyzstan Foundation with the assistance of which the University has been able to connect computer classes to the Internet free of charge.

All our students have in-depth knowledge of computer technologies and the ability to use them in such subjects, as computer technologies in accountancy, automated economics IT, automated financial and banking systems and accountancy information processing using such programmes as, Info-Accountant, 1С Accounting, Lightic Warehouse Records, PMeHo computer-based professional activities for students-technicians and hotel businesses. The department has active contacts with international information networks that have the richest resources.

The Social Humanities and Legal Disciplines department teaches social humanities and a number of specialized courses on philosophy, social science, science of culture, aesthetics and ethics of behaviour, without which a prospective specialist will not get a place.

The students in the faculty have to set up the Advancement NGO and it has won a grant from the US Embassy under the Students' Academic Honesty project.

FINANCE AND CREDIT FACULTY

On September 1st 2005, the Finance and Credit Faculty was created under the Accountancy-Economics Faculty in accordance with Rector's Order #199 issued on that day.
The faculty is one of a number of basic structural departments involved in training highly professional specialists able to work in leading banking, taxes and taxation, finance and foreign economic organisations.
Two new departments, Money and Credit and Finance have been opened in the Finance and Credit Department and a new specialty, the World Economy, in the Economic Theory department.

Students who study Finance and Credit can get both theoretical and practical knowledge in the specialty and in-depth knowledge of foreign languages and computer technologies.
The Finance department trains students in the Taxes and Taxation specialty and the qualification of Economist from Bologna and a five-year educational programme for higher qualified specialists.

The Money and Credit department trains economists/bankers and specialists for the non-banking credit sector who can also work in banking, non-banking, investment, insurance and foreign economic systems and in other credit-related spheres and they can also engage in scientific research.
The Money and Credit department is actively looking to setup foreign links, working closely with leading representatives of the banking system and non-banking financial credit institutions in various segments of the credit market.

In future, the department intends to strengthen its results and diversify into new areas based on a thorough study of the demand and supply for specialists. A new specialization of corporate financial manager is to be introduced. The practical part of this work has already been done and students will be accepted for the financial management specialty in the new academic year.

The Economic Theory department started offering the World Economy specialty in the 2005-2006 academic year in the international economic relations sector and it includes students learning two foreign languages so that future foreign commerce experts will be in high demand in the labour market.

FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS

This faculty trains students in the following specialties:
Social Cultural Services and Tourism, Management of Organizations and Economics and Business Management.

Lecturers from four departments are responsible for the training and Doctor of Economic Science Professor Zh. T. Chuburova heads the Tourism, Hospitality and Business department. Candidate of Economic Science, Professor S. A. Asanalieva heads the Economics and Management department. Docent, B. A. Isabekova heads the Foreign Languages department and Senior Lecturer A. T. Ubukeeva heads the State and Official Languages department.

The faculty works closely with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, the largest industrial enterprises, tourism agencies and hotels of the capital city and health resorts at Issyk-Kul Lake. Students who study Hotel Management and Social Cultural Service and Tourism have internships abroad. Since bilateral exchange agreements between the Erasmus higher school in Belgium, BSUEB and Vatel, France came into force, 24 students have already had internships in Brussels and four in France.

External work with foreign embassies and international organizations has become traditional, for example, National Days of Germany, Spain, Japan, USA and India and an Autumn Dance, Nooruz etc.

The Foreign Languages department has organized numerous meetings with foreign guests, such as the famous translator, Woltera May and poetess, L. Serastanova, teacher of English, Marta Wix, teachers of German, Uve Less and Stefan Lann and others and the following measures were conducted in English and German: Shakespeare Readings, Christmas Party, and Halloween, at which students have displayed excellent knowledge of foreign languages and they also demonstrate meals from around the world they have cooked themselves.

Students are engaged in scientific-research work directed by each lecturer. The results of this work are reported at scientific conferences for students. The students from the faculty actively participate in inter-university practical scientific conferences where they have repeatedly won various prizes. Thus, for example, student, Anara Bapieva won the republican competition for a student's thesis in 2004, Ekaterina Zykova presented her paper at the Inter-university Scientific Conference, entitled Conceptual Problems of Economic Development in the Kyrgyz Republic1, held at the Kyrgyz State National University.

Students from our faculty, including Azamat Abakirov, have won the President's Scholarship and Yiyk Ata Zhurt (Holy Motherland) Foundation for excellent studies and taking an active part in the lives of young people. Lilia Minkina was awarded the G.A. Bakieva Scholarship.

COMMERCE-TECHNOLOGICAL FACULTY

The faculty trains students in the following specialties:
Commodity Research and Goods Expertise (qualification as a goods manager) and Marketing (qualification as a marketing expert). This is the only faculty in Kyrgyzstan training Commodity Research and Goods Expertise specialists. It has both internal and external forms of training.
The faculty has established close links with the Kyrgyz Branch of the Institute of the Academy for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of Russia's State Standards, Russian State Commerce and Economics University, Moscow Consumers' Cooperative University, Razzakov Kyrgyz Technical University, Skryabin Kyrgyz Agrarian University, and the International Academy of Finance, Business and Rights Management.

The faculty strives for active cooperation with employers and practicing specialists.

The students of this faculty have achieved good results not only in studies but also in various measures conducted by the University. For example at the republican conference, Post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan: Future Development Prospects, devoted to the Day for Celebrating One Year of the Revolution in March 2005, a student, Nurzada Sydykbekova won a prize of 10,000 soms with her thesis, the Political Crisis in Kyrgyzstan: Reasons, Consequences and Ways of Overcoming it. Students' scientific practical conferences are held annually.
To educate students patriotically the faculty holds memorial services devoted to the Day of the Motherland Defender and gives concerts for veterans of World War II, Afghanistan and the Batken conflict in Kyrgyzstan.

Many things are done at the faculty to ensure that students develop civil and personal responsibility, creative abilities, diligence and independence.

The faculty has highly qualified professors/ lecturers and adequate material-technical capacities and extensive links with scientific institutions and businesses, including Abdysh-Ata JSC, Shoro Closed JSC, Tattuu JSC, Akun Closed JSC, Interglass LTD and Bistyle JSC.

Our graduates are well-trained specialists in demand both in Kyrgyzstan and abroad.

LEARNING AND STAFF RE-TRAINING FACULTY

The faculty trains higher education students in Finance and Credit, Accountancy and Audit, Management of Organisations and Commodity Research and Expertise of Goods and secondary professional education students in Economics, Accountancy and Control, Taxes and Taxation and Public Food Technologies.

An electronic database of students, a set of training-methodological material on CDs, options for subjects for term papers and tests can be found on the University's website.

This allows many students of the faculty to take part in distance learning, getting and sending tasks via the Internet without interfering with their work or having to leave home..
